“Things are only impossible until they’re not.” Jean Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation

As a painter, I’m a colourist that doesn’t tend to leave much white space so at first, it was a stretch for me to respond to the exhibition theme around the colour white. Thankfully I love a challenge and the theme became very possible when I let my imagination run free. The word white makes me think of purity and light – white light as a symbol of Divinity and The Source. From there it’s a short jump to all the big questions about what it means to be alive at this time.

The three paintings forming the triptych, First Light play with light as an inner force and ideas about the beginnings of life on earth. They consider the interconnectedness and oneness of all life. Thinking about Mother Earth as a living being that both sustains us and is sustained by us, I imagine what infinite supply might look like.

Giving Back

donation

Giving and sharing are the foundation of my practice and I'm delighted to be able to support organizations like the Unstoppable Foundation which strives to ensure every child has access to education.  Over the years I have donated works of art in support of several hospitals, survivor groups, environmental and gallery fundraisers like the MacDonald Stewart Art Gallery now known as The Art Gallery of Guelph.
