Held is about love. The young woman I was partnered with is surviving a brain tumour. Aside from her radiant smile and generous spirit, what struck me most is how much love surrounds her. Imagine the courage it took to plan a wedding in the middle of chemotherapy. After spending time with her, I fell asleep with the word “cherished” in my mind. To me, surviving cancer is a testimony to the limitless power of love to heal. The power of love found within the support of family, friends, caregivers and the self.

Established in Chicago in 2011, as a non-profit organization, Twist Out Cancer (TOC) offers the platform, tools and community for anyone touched by cancer to feel connected to community and take action. It was a rich and inspiring experience to be paired with a young woman surviving cancer and to paint an image in response to her journey.

Giving Back

donation

Giving and sharing are the foundation of my practice and I'm delighted to be able to support organizations like the Unstoppable Foundation which strives to ensure every child has access to education.  Over the years I have donated works of art in support of several hospitals, survivor groups, environmental and gallery fundraisers like the MacDonald Stewart Art Gallery now known as The Art Gallery of Guelph.
